Ne 17s sits at the coarse end of cotton counts, where yarn thickness itself provides the texture rather than any weave or finish. Combined with a slub profile it produces the pronounced irregular surface associated with heavyweight American-retro jersey, loop-wheel-style knitwear and canvas-shirting.
Evenness CV and standard imperfection counts are not quoted for this yarn because those statistics presuppose a uniform yarn; reported as delivered, they would describe the slub effect rather than quality. Quality control for this product is based on average strength, slub profile repeatability and visual matching against an approved swatch.
Key Advantages
425.6 cN single-end strength. Coarse counts carry many more fibres in the cross-section, and this one uses them: at over 420 cN it tolerates the high-tension weaving needed for canvas, twill and heavy bottom-weight constructions without the warp-preparation cost that a weaker coarse yarn would require.
Slub geometry built into the yarn. Slub length and spacing are programmed on the frame, so the effect survives dyeing, washing and abrasion. Buyers who need the texture to still be present after garment washing should specify the slub diameter with that shrinkage in mind.
