Product Introduction
Ne 40s is the practical upper limit for carded cotton before the cost advantage over combed yarn disappears. C40S is spun at that boundary: fine enough for lightweight jersey and fine-gauge interlock, still robust enough to run on standard circular knitting machines and shuttleless looms without special tension settings.
The imperfection counts on this count are higher than on our Ne 30s — 218 thick places and 320 neps per 1,000 m against 7 and 22 — which is normal at Ne 40s with carded cotton and is the reason this yarn is priced below combed alternatives. It suits programmes where the fabric is piece-dyed in medium to deep shades, where scattered nep has far less visual impact than in pastel or white.
Key Advantages
Honest specification, not a combed substitute. This yarn is carded, not combed, and the test figures are published as measured. Buyers comparing it against combed Ne 40s should expect a nep count roughly three times higher and should evaluate it on fabric appearance in the intended shade depth rather than on the numbers alone.
Strength held at 226 cN on a fine count. As count rises the number of fibres per cross-section falls, so single-end strength falls with it. Keeping this count at 226 cN preserves enough margin for high-speed knitting, where feed tension spikes matter more than average load.
Fine, dry hand. The finer yarn gives a smoother surface and a lighter fabric at identical GSM, which is why Ne 40s cotton is the standard choice for summer-weight jersey, vest-weight interlock and fine poplin constructions.
Volume availability from owned spindles. Spun on our own 80,000 ring spindles in Rugao rather than traded, so repeat orders can be scheduled against capacity directly and count blends can be adjusted between runs.
Recommended Applications
Knitted apparel — Fine-gauge single jersey, interlock and rib for premium basics, layering tops and lightweight polo shirting.
Woven & blended use — Lightweight poplin and voile, or used as the cotton component alongside viscose where a finer, softer cotton partner is needed.
