Product Introduction
Why specify twist direction? Because it decides how adjacent yarns interact in a fabric. Two S-twist yarns woven together give the yarns room to bed into one another, tightening the structure; a Z-weft against an S-warp produces a looser, more open handle. This Ne 40s S-twist exists for the former effect, and is normally paired with S-twist partners in fine crepe fabrics.
The yarn carries 162.6 cN single-end strength at evenness CV 12.70%. Both figures are consequences of twisting a fine count hard, and together they define where this product works: fine crepe shirting, plisse finishes and textured knits, rather than heavy bottom-weight constructions.
Key Advantages
S-twist specified deliberately. Twist direction is not interchangeable in practice. Making this yarn available in S means a customer can build a matched warp and weft set, which is the precondition for an even crepe effect rather than one that develops randomly across the width.
Evenness CV 12.70% under double twist. Twisting a fine count amplifies existing irregularity, and the usual result is a CV well above 13. Holding it below that keeps the fine streaks that are otherwise visible in lightweight piece-dyed crepe from appearing.
Dry linen-like hand at a fine count. Standard Ne 40s viscose has a soft, sometimes limp handle. Twisting to 1,450 TPM gives the dry, slightly crisp touch normally associated with much coarser counts, allowing fine fabric that nevertheless holds shape.
Improved pilling performance. Hard twist binds surface fibres more tightly into the yarn body, which slows the fibre migration that generates pills. On knit constructions this usually lifts pilling grade by one level compared with standard-twist equivalent yarn.
Recommended Applications
Fine textured apparel — Summer-weight crepe shirting, fine crepe dresses, textured knit tops and lightweight cardigans requiring a dry touch.
Plisse & special finishes — Fabrics intended for plisse, embossing or wash-crinkle finishes where structural twist, rather than resin, provides the permanence.
