Product Introduction
This is the most extreme yarn in our range and the least suitable for general use: Ne 60s twisted to around 50 TPI. The result has low strength — 91.5 cN single-end — and correspondingly high irregularity figures, including 31 thin places per 1,000 m. Those are consequences, not faults.
The purpose of twisting this hard at this count is energy storage. A highly twisted fine yarn holds torsional energy that is released during wet processing, contracting the fabric surface into the pebbled structure known as crepe. Once released the effect is permanent, because it is a structural change rather than a finish.
Key Advantages
Designed for crepe, not for general weaving. This yarn should not be selected where strength or evenness are the priority. Its purpose is the crepe effect it delivers when relaxed in wet finishing, and its performance indicators should be judged against that function.
1,950 TPM creates permanent texture. A crepe surface produced by twist relaxation does not wash out, unlike one produced by embossing or resin application. It also survives repeated laundering, which is why crepe de Chine remains in production a century after it was developed.
Fine count keeps fabric light. At Ne 60s the crepe fabric stays below typical dress-weight thresholds, so it is suited to summer dresses and blouses where a coarser crepe yarn would give too heavy a hand.
Twist delivers dry handle without finishing aids. The crisp, dry touch is a property of the yarn structure. No softener or resin is needed, which supports dyehouse programmes restricting auxiliary inputs.
Recommended Applications
Crepe & crinkle fabrics — Crepe de Chine, crepon, plisse and wash-crinkle constructions in viscose, including dress and blouse weights.
Textured lightweight knits — Fine-gauge knitted tops and cardigans where the relaxed twist produces a pebbled surface without special stitch construction.
